While working on thousands of faces as a medical aesthetician, I kept seeing the same frustrating pattern: clients were investing in professional treatments, but their results were being slowed down—sometimes completely reversed—by the products they were using at home.
That led me deep into research, and I discovered something eye-opening through medical journals and dermatology resources: the pore-clogging scale, also known as the comedogenic scale.
This scale ranks ingredients from 0 to 5 based on how likely they are to clog your pores (with 0 being completely safe and 5 being highly comedogenic).
What shocked me was how many “clean,” “natural,” or even “acne-safe” products were packed with ingredients rated 3 or higher—meaning they were almost guaranteed to cause breakouts for anyone prone to acne.
This discovery changed the way I viewed skincare. It became my mission to create formulas that are truly non-pore-clogging, based on science—not marketing.
